Caretaker Farm

Caretaker Farm

Caretaker Farm is one of the oldest organic and community supported farms in the country. Farm members purchase a share in the harvest and are closely involved in the raising and harvesting of their food. In 2006, the WRLF purchased the land at Caretaker Farm to allow new farmers to take over from founding farmers Sam and Elizabeth Smith at an affordable cost. The houses and farm buildings are owned by the farmers, who lease the land from the WRLF over a 99-year lease term. Although the WRLF has a legal right to enter the property for monitoring purposes, for all intents and purposes it is considered private, and the tenants have the rights of property ownership. Caretaker Farm is located on Hancock Road in South Williamstown.
