Event Type

**Update: We will meet at the Williams College parking lot at the end of Berlin Rd. and be walking along part of the Bullock Trail (yellow markers) before it gets steep.**

Join Williamstown Rural Lands and experienced outdoor guide and certified Tai Chi instructor, Mary Hannah Parkman, to experience nature in a new way. Participants will learn the art of mindful movement through Tai Chi. Mary Hannah will guide participants in slow-paced movements that encourage mindfulness and thereby deepen capacity for connection with self, the natural world and one another. Tai Chi, a Chinese martial art, was inspired by nature and designed to enliven “chi” or lifeforce energy for greater vitality. Tai Chi is known to have many health benefits.

This workshop is open to all people and no prior experience is required. Tai Chi practice is accessible to persons with disabilities. Pre-registration is encouraged. Workshop is limited to 12 people.

This program is supported in part by a grant from the Cultural Council of Northern Berkshire, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.

Directions: From Rt. 7, turn onto Rt. 2W by A-Frame Bakery towards Petersburg Pass. In 0.4 miles, turn left onto Torrey Woods Road, which parallels Rt. 2W. At the three-way intersection, continue straight onto Berlin Rd., a dirt road. Follow Berlin Rd. for 2 miles until it dead ends in the parking lot by the old Williams College ski trail. Be aware that Berlin Rd. may be muddy and slippery if there has been a recent rain.

Parking at Williamstown Rural Lands Berlin Road Trailhead (end of Berlin Rd., Williamstown). This is the first parking lot after the end of the houses along Berlin Road. There is a medium-size (3 car) dirt parking lot on the right.  There is a large dirt parking lot at the end of the road at the Williams College Mt. Berlin Trailhead for extra parking.

Site accessibility: There are no bathrooms or indoor spaces at this site. We will be moving along the WRLF Loop trail (red trail on the map). The trail is a relatively flat and wide dirt track and we will not be crossing the stream. We can make accommodations for wheelchair users.

Please check the weather before arriving and bring appropriate clothing (warm, non-cotton layers).
