Money Brook Falls
Distance: ~6.0 miles
Difficulty: Moderate to strenuous, some technical footing.
Hike Leader: Barbara Carr
Hike to this iconic Berkshires waterfall on the west side of Mt. Greylock while spring runoff is still flowing. Families welcome, but be aware that stream crossings are required
We’ll meet at the parking lot at the end of Hopper Road before starting out on the Money Brook Trail. (Click on the WHERE link above for google maps location)
The first mile of the hike follows an old woods road that soon parallels Hopper Brook, one of the coolest places on a hot day in Williamstown. Before long, Money Brook’s waters converge with Hopper Brook, and a bridge carries you across the stream before you head left and begin hiking more seriously uphill. After a small stream crossing or two, we’ll pick our way through a technical talus section before following the brook on a narrow trail above the waters below. We’ll head downhill steeply, and then up — and a brief spur will lead us to the cascading falls of Money Brook.
We’ll take in the view, and soak in the mist, before heading back the way we came.
