Mt. Greylock from the trail

This is a vigorous loop that climbs ~1500 feet in 1.6 miles on the Phelps trail with good footing. It then follows the Taconic Crest Trail south and descends on the Mill Hollow trail, a gentle descent surrounded by beautiful foliage. The loop is completed by walking on Oblong Rd north 0.3 miles north back to the Phelps trailhead. The hike has historical significance in that it crosses 4 stone walls on the Phelps Trail dating back to the early 1800s when the area was predominantly farms. Mills Hollow Trail was an old wagon route connecting Williamstown and Albany.

The Phelps trail head is located on Oblong Rd, 0.3 miles south of Cricket Creek Farm.
The entire loop is 4.3 mile with hiking time of 2.5-3 hours.
