What’s the connection between the story of “The Tortoise and the Hare” and sowing seeds? Join local gardener Laura Bentz in our Native Seed-Sowing workshop to discover the answer! Native plants have co-evolved with local insects in specific eco-regions, provide essential ecosystem services, and delight our senses. Growing from seed is the most economical way to increase the presence of native plants in our landscapes.
In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how starting perennial flowering plants differs from growing annual flowers and vegetables. Participants will sow seeds of two to four perennials in pots to take home for their gardens! You will learn why these seeds need to be overwintered outside in their safe pots for spring germination. All materials for getting your hands in the soil will be provided.
This workshop is appropriate for ages 14 and up. Dedicated pre-teens welcome with an adult. Space is limited to 12, so sign up early.
Cost: $10 (Members), $15 (Non-Members). Register here or drop Abigail a note.
